What is NeuroFacial Massage Therapy?

NeuroFascial Massage Therapy is a therapeutic technique that quickly alleviates tension and restrictions within muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. It works to desensitize and calm hypersensitivity in the nervous system that causes pain.

Neurological hypersensitivity is the direct cause of neurogenic inflammation which can become chronic and creates sympathetic dominance in the body. This can happen in the following ways:

  • Acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc.)

  • Accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma)

  • Old injuries (chronic inflammation)

  • Not getting enough oxygen (hypoxia)

In other words, the brain has become stressed creating a lock down in the bodily tissue producing pain, loss of strength and decreased range of motion in the affected area.  As this process continues, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes tendinitis, and nerves can become entrapped.

What conditions can NeuroFacial Massage therapy help treat?

  • Headaches /migraines

  • Back pain

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Shin splints

What can you expect from a NeuroFacial Massage?

Each session has a small, updated evaluation, followed by a hands on treatment.

The texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves treatment occurs through pressure to the damaged area. Hypersensitive areas are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.

Some movements may cause uncomfortable pain during application, but is completely normal. This occurs due to neurological system that is being stimulated to restore normal function.

30 min appointment: targeting one area or injury
60 min appointment: for generalized pain subject to more than one area.
